Initial Influence Map

Initial ideas for the direction to take the phrases in is for a Victorian time period due to the phrase 'Children should be seen and not heard' been commonly associated with it. Following the idea of this time period, interpreting 'In the Laboratory' as more of an alchemist working in the basement rather than a modern day laboratory.

Fantastic Voyage - Influence Map
In my animation I want the fern spores to act like army men, as if the spores being thrown from the fern is a military operation. My influences came from the army men characters in Toy Story.

Influence Map Characters
The two characters in my story are a Ballet Dancer and a Bowler, I want to get the costumes right for my concept to fit into my story setting.
Influence Map - Environments
This is an Influence map for my environments for my story, the two main sets are the bowling alley and the stage which are conflicting styles. I pulled some colours from this influence map which I will use in my concept art.

Influence Map - Caves and Machinery
I produced two more Influence Maps, one focusing on caves and the other on machinery, the scenes in the book describe caves with giant plants and fungi growing as well as a giant engine that creates light in the caves. So i looked at underwater caves with the glow of the man made light illuminating them, and at engines to get some ideas to base my concept art on.

Influence Map - Moon Surface
This is my first influence map, the surface of the moon in the book is covered in fast growing plants in the day so I looked at plants as well as the moon surface and antarctic conditions to generate some ideas.
